Season Finale

Well everyone tonight was the season finale. I don’t know about you, but I was disappointed. They left us with a cliffhanger. If you followed closely from every episode, every time Melanie says “definitely” it means she is lying. So when the doctor asked her about the abortion and she said “definitely not” Derwin knew she was lying and something was up. I think that was a stupid way to end the season if though its meant to make you look out for the next season. I would be really disappointed if they didn’t come out with another season to clarify and give us closure to every character’s storyline.

Like it ended with Malik’s ex-girlfriend (the supermodel) arriving at his house drunk, Tasha getting fired as Derwin’s agent and choosing to represent Malik, Jason trying to get back with his ex from last season ‘Camille’ but not knowing that she is currently dating their new quarterback. This is so much drama to put in one episode and its unclear how everything ended. What makes it more disappointing is how BET was advertising it saying its going to be something big and shocking. The only thing shocking was that Melanie may have been pregnant. I believe that if they didn’t over exaggerate the episode, I probably wouldn’t have been so disappointed. Also I should have seen this coming since in real life Melanie’s character Tia Mowry is really pregnant, so obviously BET had to incorporate something as her belly is going to be showing while they might be filming season 5.

Over all I think it could have been a better season ending. What do you think?

Tasha Mack and her Lovers

Tasha Mack has never had much luck with her love life during past seasons of the show. Her most memorable relationship was with Rick Fox in season 3, in which she really did have deep feelings for him. When the relationship came to an end, Tasha was heartbroken over how she had just lost a really good guy. However, things seemed to be looking good for her when she started seeing Dante in the beginning of season 4. Although Dante is in his 20’s and a couple of years younger than her son, Tasha never seemed to mind at all because she was into Dante and he was definitely into her.

Tasha’s past relationships always seem to be going fine at first, until eventually she does something or says something foolish to mess up the chemistry of the relationship. With Rick Fox, she didn’t trust him and always seemed the need to protect herself from getting hurt. She was also very insecure when it came to Dante and always felt the need to boast about how much money she makes and the number of fancy things she can purchase. These particular behavioral traits that Tasha had, made her unsuccessful in ever making these relationships last and after Dante she needed time for herself. Then she met Ronnie, a terminally ill man who taught Tasha how to really live her life to the fullest.

Ronnie was a different type of guy. He lived everyday day like it was his last and taught Tasha to appreciate the little things because life isn’t always about the money and fame. Sometimes it’s more about living life daily like its your last day because you will never know what to expect on the next. This was especially the case for Ronnie since he had cancer and could go any minute. He looked at things differently and took a lot of chances to accomplish things that he wanted to in life.

If anything, I believe this guy really changed Tasha and hopefully she will have better luck when choosing her next.

Overall Thoughts of the show so far

From following the show since season 2, the show has changed a lot. The show use to be aired on the CW network where the characters made more money, now its aired on BET and it’s not the same. The characters’ personalities are no longer the same. To me, the show has lost flavor. The director has tried to put too many things going on in one episode. I find that the storyline is all over the place between the different characters. The characters are now in different stages of their lives. Derwin and Melanie are now married and Melanie is a doctor and president of the Sunbeams. Derwin is now the famous football player. Janay now has Derwin’s child which is named DJ (Derwin Jr). Malik is in rehab and dating a supermodel. Tasha is dating Donte a much younger man. Kelly and Jason are now divorced and Kelly is out of the picture because she realizes she needs help.

How has each character changed and developed?

Malik’s : this season as a whole has changed from being all about himself to actually caring about other people. His attitude has changed since has gone to rehab, it’s as if he has a new lease on life. He now views things from a different point of view.

Derwin and Melanie: are learning to live as a married couple along with coping with the fact that Derwin is the father of Janay’s baby. Melanie is also dealing with not having a actually career and just being a stay at home wife.

Tasha and Donte: Tasha is in denial and trying to come to terms with the fact that Donte is much younger than her, and the fact that Donte wants to date her and make it official in public.

Kelly and Jason: Now that Jason and Kelly are divorced, Jason is co-hosting the show ‘benched’ and living life. While Kelly is busy making her own reality show, and trying to be in the spot light. It seems as though she is craving attention since she no longer has fame as when she was the head of the sunbeam girls group.

Overall I think this season is proving to be more dramatic and life changing for all the characters in the show.  I just hope that when they decide to write the next season, it is actually an hour long or try not to put so much in 30mins.

Episode 9 "A Very Special Episode"

So this is the ninth episode of the game so far of the fourth season and things are getting interesting. Here is a summary of what happened in this episode. Malik is now out of the rehab center and is dating the super model Jenna Riss. They are so in love and he seems to be a changed man with a new look on life, along with a new attitude, and by new attitude I mean he’s a one-woman man. He is done with the booty calls from his former mistress, Parker.  Speaking of Parker, in this episode Malik tells Parker that it is over between them but she refuses to accept this. After a football game Malik enters his hotel room to find Parker there awaiting him on his bed, Parker wants Malik to sleep wit her. Malik refuse to do so and Parker brings up the fact that if it was not for her he would not be playing for the Sabers, Malik thanks her for all that she has done for him and tells her that he’s done with the games. After hearing this Parker threatens him by picking up the phone and calling her husband to tell him what’s been going on, but after Malik tells her if she does this her husband would just divorce her, and she will be left out in the dust with nothing to gain from the divorce. After realizing what Malik said is right she tells him that she will tell everyone that Malik raped her. Parker starts braking things and screaming “rape.”  The other part of this episode is mainly about Derwin and Melanie. It all starts at a Sunbeams meeting when the wives are reading fan mail about their husbands. Most of the mail is from female fans describing there lust for the players. One of the members brings up the fact that if we satisfy our husbands well enough we have nothing to worry about. Melanie states that she satisfies Derwin good enough in bed, the rest of the sunbeams do not believe her, and she pushes it off. Later that night Melanie calls Derwin after his game and as she is talking to him he is walking into his hotel room. When he enters he sees a women in her bra and panties on his bed and she says “are you ready I know 73 other positions.” Melanie asks who is that and he tells her. Melanie asks how many times has that happened and Derwin says a few times. Melanie says I’ll talk to you later and hangs up the phone. The next evening Melanie and a member of the sunbeams discuss about the fact that she wants to spice up her intimate moments with Derwin by finding someone to have a three some with. Later that evening Melanie and her sunbeam girlfriend go to a bar to look for a good candidate. As her sunbeam girlfriend goes on the hunt, a female approaches her and complements her on how she looked on the cover of a magazine. As they are talking Melanie checks her out and tells her “you have very nice likable lips” the female then says “excuse me.”  Melanie then explains that she is looking for someone to have a three some with her and Derwin, and then the female says why don’t you just ask so Melanie does and she agrees by saying “yes.”

My thoughts on this episode are that it seems to touch on too many common problems couples/people seem to face in real life. In the case of Malik and Parker, and the fact that Malik is moving on with someone else, and dumping Parker to the side, even though she was the one person that really cared about him when no one else did. This seems to happen all the time in life, people turning their backs on the people that were there for them when no one else was. However, what Parker and Malik have been doing is not something to just brush off. Parkers been cheating on her husband with Malik and now that Malik wants out she’s blackmailing him just to keep him wrapped around her little finger and to get what she wants. In the case of Melanie and Derwin it seems that Melanie is insecure about weather she is satisfying Derwin well enough and she is scared that if she is not he will find it somewhere else. The fact that she is scared that this will happen Melanie is willing to do anything to spice up her sex life with him just so he doesn’t go looking for it somewhere else. Considering that this is easy for him to do since he is a pro football player and women are just willing to please him. All and all I think that this season of The Game” is about to get a lot more exciting. So everyone get ready, get set, cause it’s Game On!

Has money and fame gotten to their heads?

Melanie and Derwin have both had their ups and downs. They had been together on and off since the first season. They started dating before Derwin became a pro athlete. He signed a rookie contract with the San Diego Sabers. While Melanie had to make a decision to go to med-school at Johns Hopkins in LA where they are now or to go USC in San Diego where he is moving to. She decided to stay with him and move to San Diego.

In one of the episodes of the first season, Melanie went to lunch with one of their old friend from college now Derwin's rival in the game, Trey Wiggs. While out for lunch the paparazzi took pictures of them together and rumors were spreading. Melanie had to call Derwin's image consultant Dion to fix the problem with some images of them together.

At one point in their relationship, Derwin thought Melanie was pregnant and proposed to her live on national television at halftime in one of his games. She said "yes" because she was feeling pressured but later on had doubts because she didn't want to get lost in his "football" world and not accomplish her own dreams. Later on in the season, Malik and Derwin go to a club and he introduces him to Drew Sidora. Derwin ended up driving her home because Malik was out of it. The next day Drew asked Derwin to be in her new video. Things went downhill since then. That was part of the reason leading on to the first break up. Drew and Derwin got closer and they ended up sleeping together. Derwin told Melanie about him and Drew getting closer but lied about them sleeping together when she asked. Not until Derwin brought her to a party, that’s when Melanie found out that they slept together and called it quits. This was their first official break up and the end of season one.

In season 2, Melanie moves on and dates Jerome while Derwin starts dating Janay. During this time Melanie and Derwin had at least one affair. They both realized that they still wanted each other, but at this time Derwin had already gotten Janay pregnant. Finally in season 3, they get back together and deal with Janay’s pregnancy. Later on in the season, they eventually got married and Janay gave birth to his son. Now in season 4, two years later, they are happily married but Melanie questions if DJ is really Derwin’s son, so she does a DNA test.

As you can see, Melanie and Derwin have clearly been through a lot. The only thing I don’t get is why would Melanie question DJ’s DNA two years after he was born, why wasn't the test done before this point. As a woman, if I had my doubts, that would have been first on my to do list, in order to maintain my sanity. I think she only started to question it because he was ruining her picture perfect family and life. From the beginning this was their dream and now they are finally here. I think Melanie feels like Janay is just jealous of what her and Derwin have and taking it out on the son. I believe that now that they made it to the top that they are not remembering how they got there. I predict that they are going to let the money and fame go to their heads to the point where it is going to affect their relationship. What do you think? Have Melanie and Derwin let the fame and fortune get to them?

The Character Malik

In my opinion I think the character Malik in the show “The Game” has the same attitude he had in the first season, the only thing that has changed is the fact that it has gotten worse. I think the factors that contribute to the increase in his attitude is the fact that he is no longer the center of attention. The tables have turned, the Rookie that once used to look up to him is now the center of attention, and the superstar that once use to be in the spotlight has now been placed in the backseat. Now that Malik’s mother is the manager of Derwin, also known as the “Rookie” back in the day, Malik seems to be somewhat of the jealous type because he now realizes that the world does not revolve around him. Not only is Malik’s mother no longer his manager, in addition to this Malik’s right hand man Tee Tee is no longer his right hand man.

I think his biggest problem is that he has never been independent on his own and now that everyone has gone and left him, he has to do everything for himself. I believe this is where he started to get out of control. Now he is even sleeping with the owner’s wife and it is in the out and open. He is bound to get caught soon. He just thinks that everything revolves around him and “the rules” don’t apply to him. But I can bet you that Malik doesn’t know what he got coming. I believe he is going to get fired this season from the team.

What do you think?

Is it morally wrong for one to be in such denial?

The first episode of season 4 was on January 11, 2011. In this comeback episode there was a lot going on, it was two years later. Melanie and Derwin were still together but now live in a mansion instead of their condo. Derwin became famous and is now the franchise player for the Sabers. He also became the face of Nike and their “Boom” campaign. Melanie on the other hand became the new head of the sunbeams since Kelly and Jason got divorced and Janay had a baby boy and named him Derwin Jr. (DJ).

Jason and Kelly are both single since being divorced in the last season. She has her own reality TV show called “Ex-Ballers Wives” demonstrating how hard it was being married to him.  He is filling in as a guest correspondent on a sports network called “Benched”, while he protests against his team to give him better recognition for his 12 years there. Since Jason is doing his protest he hasn’t been to practice (“training camp”). Kelly has also lost her mind and became a shopaholic because all she wants to do is spend as much of Jason’s money as possible.

Tasha is now dating some one else. She is dating a younger guy named Dante, who is a local performer. She is also Derwin’s manager and has other clients that she represents as well. Malik is no longer the Sabre’s #1 player and is having an affair with the wife of the new owner of the Sabre’s. Tee Tee now has his own mobile chicken restaurant and is doing well. He is now dating his former intern, Allison.

In this episode, Melanie is left to give DJ a bath and put him to bed and while in the process of doing this, she gives him a DNA test. The test comes out negative and she has to deal with telling Derwin what she did, but then later on she finds out that it was a mistake and the baby is really his. Derwin also asked Janay if he was the baby’s father and she was stumped that he actually asked her.

While Malik was making out with his boss’s wife at a nightclub, they created some damages and Tee Tee had to come bail him out of trouble again. On another occasion, Malik got drunk and Allison had to drive him home. He ended up sleeping with her. The next morning Tee Tee goes to visit Malik and finds his girl in the hot tub with him. This is where things all went downhill.

I thought this was a lot for one episode. The storyline was everywhere. You basically had to follow every character and their own story. I also don’t like the way Malik is now acting, he became even more self-fish. I hope they have flash back episodes which can explain some of the gaps that we are seeing, like what happened between Tasha and Rick or even Malik’s new ‘I don’t care’ attitude. Overall it was a great first episode. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Derwin Davis is a star wide receiver for the San Diego Sabers. Towards the end of the season 1, Derwin proposes to Melanie at half-time of one of the Saber games because he thinks that Melanie might be pregnant. Melanie accepts at feeling pressured on national television. However, later on Melanie tells Derwin that it is not the right time. Derwin meets singer Drew Sidora at a party he attends with Malik, and Drew asks Derwin to be in her new video, which he accepts not knowing he will play her love interest. Derwin and Drew get close and end up having sex. Dionne tells Derwin she knows he slept with Drew, and Melanie over-hears and calls off the engagement, and their relationship. In season 2, after a few "hookups" Derwin starts dating Janay. Although Melanie begins dating Jerome, she is jealous of Derwin and Janay. Derwin hurts his knee in a Sabers' playoff game and can't play in the Super Bowl, so he decides not to go to Miami with the team. Melanie misses Derwin and decides to pay him a visit, and they share a passionate kiss, but Melanie goes to L.A. with her boyfriend, Jerome. Derwin goes with Malik to L.A. to seek out Melanie. Jerome and Derwin fight and Melanie confesses to Jerome that she loves Derwin. Melanie goes to Derwin's apartment, but Derwin finds out that Janay is pregnant with his baby. In season 3, Derwin and Melanie get back together, but Melanie is jealous when Derwin goes with Janay to her first pregnancy appointment. Derwin proposes again, and Melanie accepts, and decides she wants to marry Derwin before the baby arrives. The baby comes when Derwin and Melanie are at the altar. Derwin rushes to the hospital, leaving Melanie at the altar. Later that night Derwin and Melanie get married in a private ceremony.

Tasha Mach

Tasha is the mother/manager of star quarterback Malik Wright. As the show progresses, Malik fires Tasha. She then signs a contract with ISM (Irv Smiff Management). In season 3 Tasha is fired from ISM due to the company's job cuts. Tasha and Kelly go through a rift in their relationship. At Melanie and Derwin's first wedding, Tasha reveals that she introduced Jason to Camille, his new girlfriend. Kelly responds by punching Tasha in the face.

Malik Wright
Malik is a high-profile athlete and the starting quarterback for the Sabers. He has the reputation of being an arrogant rich pro athlete who gets lots of women. He now lives in his own mansion in San Diego and once lived with his mother who was his manager. As a child, he did not know his father. His best friend since childhood is “Tee Tee". In season 2, after an embarrassing scandal where he punches a public figure confined to a wheelchair, he fires Tasha as his manager. He falls in love with actress Robin Givens and convinces her to marry him as a publicity stunt. In the third season, he finally meets his father and his half sister, Pucci, whom he tries to help with her singing career.

Kelly Pitts
Kelly is the ex-wife of Sabers captain and star wide receiver Jason Pitts, mother of Brittany Pitts, and ex-President of the Sunbeams. In season 3, Kelly revealed that she had a trailer park upbringing. She was originally a cheerleader for the San Diego Sabers, where she met and eventually married Jason Pitts. In season 2, Jason begins using steroids. Jason at first tries to hide his secret from Kelly, but after a couple of ugly situations, he can longer do it and confesses. Kelly forces Jason to promise he'll stop using in 2 months, or she'll take Brittany and leave. After Jason refuses to stop 2 months later, Kelly follows through on her promise and leaves. After Jason quits, they later go to therapy where Kelly tells Jason she married him for his money. In the second season finale, Kelly leaves Jason after he tries to use her to get a contract, and in season 3 they eventually agree to a divorce. When Jason's lawyers advise him to take full custody of their only child Brittany, Kelly threatens to reveal Jason's secret of steroid use. During season three she dates a couple of guys, bartender Joe, and gym owner Roman, but in the end she hoped her and Jason would get back together, but he leaves with his girlfriend Camille instead, leaving Kelly heartbroken.

Jason Pitts
Jason Pitts is the ex-husband of Kelly Pitts, father of Brittany Pitts, and captain of the Sabers. In season 2 when Kelly admitted to marrying him for the money, he eventually admits that he married Kelly because she was easy to impress and that he knew Kelly would worship him. Jason also begins using steroids because of his declining performance on the field. The steroids eventually make his performance better, but he quits when Kelly takes Brittany and leaves. After he and Kelly can't reconcile their marriage, Jason and Kelly agree to a divorce in season 3. In the season three finale, Jason goes to court for hitting Kelly's ex-boyfriend, and after being released, leaves with his girlfriend Camille in the court room, rather than Kelly.

Here is a video to summarize what you just read.

Predictions

  • What do you think will happen in the next season?
  • Will Melanie and Derwin stay together or will the baby that Janay had break them apart?
  • Is Janay’s baby really Derwin’s child?
  • Will Tasha and Kelly ever talk again?
  • Will Kelly and Jason get through with this divorce and eventually be friends for the sake of their daughter?

These are all questions that come to my mind when thinking what is going to happen in season four. I hope Melanie and Derwin do end up staying together because they are such a cute couple. I also hope that Janay’s baby is not his because that ruins the picture perfect family. I just hope season four is as juicy as the last seasons.

Don’t forget the new season starts January 11, 2011 at 10pm on BET!
